3 June: The New CFSI Symposium
In a knowledge-driven economy, Canadian higher education and research institutions play a central role in advancing the country’s prosperity by generating, translating, and disseminating knowledge that supports economic, social and public innovation, national competitiveness, effective regulation, and societal well-being. To maximize the public value and uptake of research-based evidence, innovation and expertise, interest holders must align on these broader strategic objectives.
On June 3rd, the CFSI Symposium will launch the Strategic Science and Innovation Leadership Initiative (SSIL) by convening a high-level national dialogue on the science and innovation strategy Canada needs to support a more holistic approach to conceiving, implementing and maintaining the conditions for inclusive prosperity.

Over the course of the Summer and Fall, the SSIL will bring together higher education, industry and nonprofit leaders, policymakers, research and community funders and capacity builders to examine how science and research can support Canada’s ambitions across all sectors. The initiative will invite perspectives of national leaders on recent progress and emerging approaches around research excellence and impact, and explore how to orchestrate efforts and activate key drivers of change within Canada’s science and innovation ecosystem.
Note that while the CFSI symposium is open to all, the CFSI’s deliberative sense-making on 1-2 June is by invitation only. Those who also wish to participate in CFSI’s deliberative sense-making on 1-2 June must have received an invitation separately. You may request an invitation below.
